Pirelli achieved a first in the world with Cinturato All Season SF2 tires, climbing 8,848 meters ‘Everesting’ with a standard car.
The climb carried out on the 1,985-meter Genya Mountain in Artvin was successfully completed in a time of 4 hours, 20 minutes, 25 seconds and 42 seconds. Organized under the supervision of the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED), veteran automotive journalist and Autobest Jury Member Okan Altan, Fiat Motor Sports’ official pilot Fatih Kara, reached Genya Mountain on top of the 1,985-meter Atabarı Ski Center in Artvin, all at once. He managed to climb by repeating 5 times.
Equipped with Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF2 tires, Fiat Egea Cross vehicles successfully completed the route of 8,848 meters equivalent to Mount Everest within the scope of the project. At the award ceremony held in Atabarı after the Everesting climb, Artvin Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, Sports Activities Branch Manager Mehmet Başköylü presented their awards to Okan Altan and Fatih Kara.
‘Everesting’ on Artvin roads
For the ‘Everesting’ climb, a 24-kilometer route with 50 sharp bends was determined from the banks of the Coruh river in Artvin to the Genya Peak above the Atabarı Ski Center.
