Okan Erdem, General Manager of Aşin Automobile, stated that there has been an increase in the preference of private service for the owners of vehicles aged 3 and over for the last 2 years, and drew attention to the fact that the private services did not increase the labor costs despite the consumables prices, which increased by 35 percent in an average of 1 year due to the exchange rate. Stating that the periodical maintenance of 4 thousand TL for premium vehicles can be carried out for 2 thousand TL at private services, Erdem said, “Institutionalized private services that prefer OEM parts have become quite advantageous for vehicle owners. This is more evident when we compare the service labor prices in Europe. Just for this reason, many vehicles coming from Europe get their shuttle service in Turkey.” said.
Flock to post-closing services
Automotive spare parts and service providers had busy days in the first two weeks after the full shutdown period. Groupe PSA Turkey Parts and Services General Manager Mehmet Akın said, “During the last closure period, many vehicles could not come to the workshops. Many people postponed the need for maintenance and service. As of May 17, there has been a serious intensity in services throughout Turkey. As Groupe PSA Turkey Parts and Services, we hosted more than 27 thousand vehicles in a short period of 9 working days between 17-28 May. When we compare it to the average daily service entry data for the first four months of 2021, this means a 45 percent increase. In addition, the daily service entry of Eurorepar Car Service, our multi-brand maintenance and repair brand serving throughout Turkey, exceeded the average by 50 percent.” Adding to his words that they foresee the intensity experienced in the services to continue until Eid al-Adha, Mehmet Akın emphasized that they offer Check-Up service completely free of charge for Peugeot, Citroen, Opel and DS users, which are under the umbrella of Groupe PSA Turkey, a subsidiary of Stellantis.
